Getting Started Guide

This guide will help you understand the steps to get up and running with Carbon Analytics.

1. Sign up

If you haven't done so yet, sign up for Carbon Analytics at https://insight2.co2analytics.com/sign-up and pick a plan that fits your business.

Already done this step? Great!  You are well on your way.

2. Upload your data

Navigate to the "Connect Suppliers" tab, where you will be able to upload your accounting data.

Currently there are two ways to upload your data - through the Xero integration, or through a CSV/Excel upload process. You can learn more about the different methods here: https://support.co2analytics.com/portal/en/kb/articles/transaction-level-data

After connecting your data, it can take up to a few hours for Carbon Analytics to process all of the data, depending on how much data you have.

3. Resolve suppliers

As part of the upload process, Carbon Analytics will attempt to match the company names in your uploaded data with known legal entities.  This next step of the process involves confirming that the matches are correct, and fixing any that are incorrect or were unable to be matched.

Click on any unknown company, or incorrectly matched company.

Search to see if you can find the correct company. If not, you can manually enter in the company by first clicking the "Can't find your organization?" link and filling out the details for the company.
There are also buttons for transactions that are not true suppliers, for example if employee salaries are showing up in your data.

Note: You do not have to resolve all of your suppliers.  We recommend you sort by the "Total Spend" column and work your way down.  Once you have gotten to 90-95% of your total spend for the period, any additional changes will have a minimal impact on your total footprint.

4. See Results

After resolving your suppliers, you now can see the fruits of your labor!  From dashboard page you can see your total footprint, as well as footprint broken down by Scope 1, 2 and 3.

In addition, you can go to the "By Transaction" and "By Supplier" pages to see in much greater detail how specific supplies and transactions are affecting your footprint:

5. Take action

Finally, you may wish to take additional action. There are a few different ways you can do this. For one, you can get badges that can be placed on your website to help communicate to your customers and partners that you are a company that takes Climate seriously.  In addition, you can engage with your supplies to help them (and therefor you) reduce their carbon footprint.
